About Gepretix
Gepretix is a soft oral capsule containing 100mg of micronised progesterone. It is licensed for use alongside oestrogen HRT after menopause in women who still have a womb. Its main role is to help stop the womb lining becoming too thick. Take it at bedtime and away from food, because food increases the amount of progesterone absorbed. A 200mg strength is also available, but this LIVVE listing is for 100mg capsules. Use only the strength and number of capsules on your prescription.
The two hormones have different roles. Oestrogen helps relieve menopause symptoms such as hot flushes and night sweats. Progesterone helps protect your womb lining while you use systemic oestrogen. Prescribing them separately gives your clinician flexibility to adjust your treatment. Some people notice changes in sleep or mood while taking progesterone, but these effects vary and are not the main reason Gepretix is prescribed.
Where Gepretix fits
Gepretix provides the progesterone part of your HRT alongside separate oestrogen. A cyclical schedule means taking progesterone for part of each cycle, usually followed by a planned bleed. A continuous schedule aims to avoid a planned monthly bleed, although spotting can happen. The licensed Gepretix schedules are 200mg at bedtime on days 15–26, or 100mg at bedtime on days 1–25 of each treatment cycle. Taking it every night without a break is outside these licensed schedules. If your clinician recommends this, they will explain the off-licence use and the benefits and risks. What to expect
Sleepiness, dizziness, breast tenderness, bloating or headache can occur. Take Gepretix at bedtime and avoid driving or using machinery if you feel affected.
Spotting or bleeding can happen when starting or changing HRT. Contact LIVVE if it worries you or is difficult to manage.
You may not feel a noticeable effect from the progesterone itself. Keep taking it on your prescribed nights, even if your menopause symptoms improve.
Your clinician can review your dose, schedule, oestrogen treatment or choice of progestogen if your treatment is not working well for you. You can ask for advice before your planned review.

How to take Gepretix
